The Saint-Lazare Station

Story

A steam locomotive rests beneath an arched iron train station, surrounded by passengers waiting on the platform. Soft blues, grays, and golden yellows blend across the scene, giving the smoky air a hazy glow. The painting was made in oil in 1877 by Claude Monet, a French painter associated with Impressionism, whose work also includes Impression, Sunrise.
