Story
Soft masses of cloud drift across a mirror of water, their forms dissolved into blues, greens, and whites that blend sky and surface into one plane. There is no clear horizon, only the shifting interplay of color and reflection filling the whole canvas. Painted in 1914, this work hangs at the Musée de l'Orangerie. Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French painter associated with Impressionism, created it as part of his water lily series.
