Story
A dirt path lined with trees stretches ahead, narrowing as it meets a glowing patch of sky. Dense dark green leaves press in from both sides, framing softer touches of pale yellow and blue that open up in the distance. This oil painting, titled Walk (Road of the Farm Saint-Siméon), was made in 1864 and is held at the National Museum of Western Art. Claude Monet (1840–1926) was a French painter associated with Impressionism. Looking closely, the contrast between the shadowed foliage and the luminous horizon gives the road a sense of pulling the eye forward into the light.
