Water Lilies

Story

A quiet pond fills the composition, its surface patterned with lily pads and drifting willow branches, rendered through strokes of purple, green, and white that blur reflection and water into one another. The piece is an oil painting by Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French artist associated with Impressionism. It entered the Toledo Museum of Art through the Libbey Endowment, a gift tied to Edward Drummond Libbey.
