Story

A still pond fills the scene, dotted with pink and white blossoms floating among green pads, while nearby trees appear faintly in reflection across purple and gray water. Claude Monet painted this oil work in 1907. He worked within Impressionism, a French painter active from 1840 to 1926. The piece came to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as a gift.
