Story
Trailing willow branches drift above a water surface dotted with lily blooms, all rendered in gentle purples, pinks, yellows, and greens. The colors blend softly, giving the scene a hazy, atmospheric quality. This detail comes from the left side of a larger oil painting made in 1915. Claude Monet, a French painter and graphic artist born in 1840 and died in 1926, worked within the Impressionist movement, and the piece is held at the Musée de l'Orangerie.
