Story

A figure and a small child make their way across a meadow dotted with red blossoms, with a cluster of trees and a rooftop set against a hazy, overcast horizon. Painted in oil in 1873, the scene reflects Claude Monet's Impressionist approach to light and atmosphere, rendered with loose, open brushwork. The piece entered the Musée d'Orsay through a gift from a private collector.
