Story

A row of slender poplars bends under a gust, their leaves rendered in greens and whites against a pale, muted blue sky. The composition captures the trees swaying together, as if the wind itself were visible in the brushwork. This piece was made in oil in 1891 and belongs to the Musée d'Orsay. Claude Monet, a French painter who lived from 1840 to 1926, worked within the Impressionist movement, also known for Impression, Sunrise.
