Story
Rings of color spread across the canvas in careful, repeating layers, built from circular forms linked by patterned lines across a terracotta, brown, and cream surface. The composition balances evenly around its center, giving the whole piece a sense of order and quiet symmetry. This painting was made in 1980 using synthetic polymer paint on canvas, and it is held at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Its creator, Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri (1932–2002), was an Australian First Nation painter also known for his work Warlugulong. Looking closely, the concentric circles seem to pulse outward in steady bands, each ring shifting slightly in tone, drawing the eye through layers of earthy color toward the quiet center of the design.
