Story
A pair of ballerinas in pale tutus bend and extend their limbs across a bare wooden studio floor, set before a wall washed in soft yellow. The scene captures a quiet rehearsal moment, caught with loose, attentive brushwork. Rendered in oil in 1877, the piece belongs to Edgar Degas (1834–1917), a French artist associated with Impressionism, whose work The Ballet Class is also known.
Where it works
A warm-toned interior scene suited to bedrooms and living rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
