Story
Rolling hills and stacked stone formations stretch across the composition, built from washes of ochre, green, and blue that suggest shifting light over the terrain. Edgar Degas created this piece using pastel over monotype in oil colors on wove paper in 1892. He worked within French Impressionism, and the piece entered the High Museum of Art through purchase funds dedicated to its collection.
