Story

A woman dressed in green studies a row of trimmed hats arranged on stands inside a shop filled with soft brown and muted hues. Her attention stays fixed on the millinery display, surrounded by warm, shadowed tones that fill the small interior. The piece is rendered in oil, completed in 1879. Edgar Degas (1834–1917) was a French painter associated with Impressionism, also recognized for The Ballet Class.
