The Listener

Story

Robed figures with halos stand among trees heavy with blossoms, their garments glowing in deep reds, blues, golds, and greens, evoking a medieval scene set in a flowering woodland. The piece, titled The Listener, is a tapestry made in 1904. It was created by Edward Burne-Jones (1833–1898), a British artist associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and Symbolism, and today it is held at the Musée d'Orsay.
