The Beach Umbrella

Story

A group of figures dressed in white gathers on a sandy shore, standing near dark rocks beside blue water, sheltered under a wide parasol. Sunlight falls across the sand and sea, giving the scene a bright, open feel. The painting, titled The Beach Umbrella, comes from Edward Henry Potthast, who lived from 1857 to 1927 and worked in the United States. His art is associated with American Impressionism.

Where it works

A warm-toned seascape suited to living rooms and dining rooms, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
