Story

A woman sits upright, dressed in a striped garment beneath an olive-toned jacket finished with a pale collar. The figure is built from loose washes of green, black, and white, with ink lines sketching her posture and the folds of fabric. Egon Schiele made this piece in 1915 using watercolor, gouache, and crayon on paper. Schiele, an Austrian artist associated with Expressionism, is linked here to the Leopold Museum.
