Old Man, His Head Two Paces Behind

Story

Flat shapes of black, orange, and yellow sit across a pale cream surface, with loose round forms sketched in among the angular blocks, suggesting a face pulled apart into fragments. The print was made with color crayon and brush and tusche lithograph with scraping, under the title Old Man, His Head Two Paces Behind. El Lissitzky, who lived 1890–1941, worked within Constructivism and Suprematism as a Russian artist, architect, and designer.
