Story

Two stylized athletes face each other, their heads reduced to plain black circles, bodies suggested by red-striped bands and yellow rectangular blocks set against a cream ground. The arrangement relies on flat geometric shapes rather than realistic detail, built from color crayon and brush and tusche lithograph with scraping. El Lissitzky, Russian, 1890–1941, worked within Constructivism and Suprematism, and this print belongs to the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Where it works
