Story

A rider on horseback moves across a frost-whitened field, heading toward a city visible under a pale, soft sky in the distance. The scene is rendered in oil on canvas on wood, completed in 1917. Elioth Gruner (1882–1939) was a painter with Australian and New Zealand citizenship, and this piece is held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
