Story

A group of youngsters in bright outfits bound and skip around a gray cat, their movements full of energy and delight, set against a palette of blue, green, brown, and yellow. The scene comes from a colour linocut made on Japanese paper in 1936. Its maker, Ethel Spowers (1890–1947), was an Australian artist working within modernism, known also as an illustrator and printmaker.
