Sunset

Story

A glowing orange sun hangs low over green water, its light catching white-capped waves rolling toward a sandy shore where sailboats drift near the coast. The scene balances warm and cool tones across sea and sky. This oil painting, titled Sunset, was made in 1913 by Félix Vallotton (1865–1925), a Swiss artist linked to Les Nabis, Art Nouveau, and Impressionism, also known for Intimités.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and bedrooms, and to hotel lobbies, in a horizontal format.
