Story
A field spreads out with clusters of pink Joe Pye Weed mingling with white Boneset blossoms, while distant hills and bare tree branches frame the open landscape beyond. The scene was rendered in oil on canvas in 1935 by Frank V. Dudley, an American landscape painter who lived from 1868 to 1957. The piece came to the Indiana State Museum through the Governor's Contingency Fund.
Where it works
A warm-toned floral still life suited to dining rooms and bedrooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a vertical format.
