Story

A painter's workroom opens onto a tall window, its light settling over scattered canvases hung close on the walls. Figures gather inside, some standing, one seated at a piano, while furnishings in gray, blue, and cream tones fill the quiet space. Painted in oil in 1870 by Frederic Bazille, the scene reflects his place among French Realism and Impressionism.
