Story

A mountain range rises with snow on its peaks, overlooking a green valley, calm water, and a rocky outcrop set against a cloudy sky. The scene was painted in 1868 by Frederic Edwin Church (1826–1900), an American artist associated with the Hudson River school. He worked as a landscape painter, and this piece is held at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
