Story
A river valley opens beneath a sky glowing in gold and orange, as sunset light settles over distant mountains and thick tropical vegetation crowds the banks below. The scene is rendered in oil, completed in 1868. Frederic Edwin Church (1826–1900), an American painter associated with the Hudson River school, created this work, now held at Fruitlands Museum.
