Story

A woman wrapped in a blue, flower-patterned robe draws a comb through her long dark hair, caught in a quiet, private moment. The image is a color woodblock print made in 1920. Its creator, Goyō Hashiguchi, was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, painter, and wood engraver who lived from 1880 to 1921. The piece entered the Toledo Museum of Art collection through a museum purchase.
