Story

A woman stands rigid in an angular, patterned robe, her form set against swirling curves rendered in gold, brown, purple, and blue. This is a preparatory cartoon tied to the Stoclet Frieze, created in 1905 by Gustav Klimt (1862–1918), an Austrian artist. The piece belongs to the Art Nouveau and Jugendstil currents, with Symbolist undertones, and is held today in the Belvedere.
