Story
A pale, blonde woman lies stretched out, her body woven into swirling ornament rendered in gold, black, and deep blue. Patterns ripple around her like water, blurring the line between figure and decoration. The piece was painted in oil in 1904 by Gustav Klimt (1862–1918), an Austrian artist whose work belongs to Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, and Symbolism.
