Story
Sailboats rest along a sandy riverbank, their hulls reflected in blue water. A barge drifts in the distance while green fields stretch beneath a pale sky. This oil on canvas, painted in 1883, renders the scene with soft, open light. Gustave Caillebotte, a French painter associated with Impressionism, also worked as an engineer and etcher, and is known for Paris Street; Rainy Day.
