Story

A man appears in side view, his face framed by a dark hat and set against a plain beige backdrop, with light-colored garments covering his shoulders. The simple composition keeps attention on his features and expression. This chalk drawing on paper was made in 1526 by Hans Holbein the Younger (1497–1543), an artist associated with the German Renaissance and the Northern Renaissance, known also for The Ambassadors.
