Story

A seated woman wears a corset and pale skirt, facing a looking glass, as a man dressed in a top hat observes her from nearby. The palette stays within soft browns and tans, outlined in black ink. The piece was made with chalk and oil in 1896, created as a study for Elles. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864–1901) worked within Post-impressionism, and his notable works include At the Moulin Rouge.
