Story

A bold yellow pineapple, topped with a green leaf and overlaid with a black grid, sits amid loose curving shapes in blue, red, and orange. These forms spread across the composition with playful energy, suggesting fruit and foliage pared down to flat color. The piece is a stencil print made in 1947, based on Matisse's cut paper collages. Matisse, French, 1869–1954, is linked to Fauvism, and this print is held by the Israel Museum.
