Story

Two women share a quiet domestic scene set against a sweep of large green leaves. One sits in yellow, holding sheet music, while the other stands in blue, playing a guitar. The composition is rendered in oil, painted in 1939. Henri Matisse (1869–1954), a French artist associated with Fauvism, created this piece, which entered the Buffalo AKG Art Museum through the Room of Contemporary Art Fund.
