Story
A patterned vase holds a bright bundle of flowers beside a teacup resting on its saucer and a closed book, all set on a wooden tabletop near a window dressed in lace curtains. Henri Matisse painted this quiet arrangement in oil in 1924. He was a French artist associated with Fauvism, and his notable work includes Dance. The piece entered the museum as a gift from Ruth and Bruce Dayton.
