Story

A sunlit Mediterranean terrace unfolds with flowering pots, trailing vines climbing nearby, and a turquoise wall standing against open blue sky. The scene feels open and airy, built from the oil painting Henri Matisse completed in 1904. Matisse, a French artist associated with Fauvism, brought bold color sense to this view, part of his wider engagement with Impressionism and Neo-impressionism, now held at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
