Story
Two brown cows graze in an open meadow beside a weeping willow, while a figure dressed in red stands nearby. Tall cypress trees rise against a wide blue sky, giving the pastoral scene a quiet, orderly calm. The painting was made in oil in 1910. Henri Rousseau (1844–1910), a French painter associated with naïve art, primitivism, and Post-impressionism, also created The Dream.
