Story

A green-leaved plant with its stem rises against a beige paper ground, accompanied by careful cross-section diagrams that break down its structure for close study. The piece, Angular Solomon's Seal, is held at the Museum of Modern Art. Its creator, Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), was a Swedish painter associated with abstract art, whose botanical study pairs scientific observation with artistic attention.
