Story
Rounded circles and curling spirals fill the composition, rendered in yellow, blue, pink, and orange against a warm terracotta ground. The forms overlap and nest within one another, built from loose, flowing lines rather than sharp edges. This piece was made with tempera on paper, mounted on canvas, in 1907 by Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), a Swedish painter whose work is associated with abstract art.
