Story

Curved shapes radiate outward in pink, white, orange, brown, and gold, set against a dark background crossed by colored lines. The forms sweep in overlapping arcs, giving the whole surface a sense of motion. This is an oil painting made in 1915 by Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), a Swedish painter whose practice contributed to abstract art.
