Story

Concentric circles and heart-like forms layer together in pink, purple, red, and black, resting above a band of rainbow color along the bottom edge. The nested shapes create a symmetrical, radiating pattern that draws the eye toward the center. This piece was painted in oil in 1915 by Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), a Swedish artist associated with abstract art.
