Story

A climbing plant unfolds across the page, its green heart-shaped leaves twisting upward and small yellow flowers scattered among the stems, a thin strip of color samples set alongside the botanical study. Rendered in watercolor, the piece reflects careful observation of natural form. The artist, Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), was Swedish and worked within abstract art, bringing attention to plant structure through this delicate illustration.

Where it works
