Story

A pair of geometric studies share the sheet, circles crossed by diagonal lines. Above, the arrangement appears only in black and white, sketched out plainly. Below, a colored rendering repeats the structure, a spiky red circle set against a blue-grey ground. The piece was made in 1917 using watercolor, pencil, and metallic paint on paper, by Hilma af Klint, a Swedish painter associated with abstract art.
