Story

An engraved view of Angra on Terceira Island lays out the city's streets, a busy harbor filled with ships, surrounding mountains, and ornate cartouches, all rendered in sepia. Jan Huygen Van Linschoten made this book illustration in 1616, now held through the Kendall Collection.
