Story
A broad, sheltering tree dominates the near ground, its branches heavy with golden-brown leaves, while figures tend livestock beneath its shade. Beyond them, the land opens toward distant mountains under soft light. The scene captures a last glimpse of a mountainous crossing above a valley. Painted in oil in 1835, it was made by John Glover (1767–1849), a British-Australian landscape painter.
