Story

A farm valley opens with cattle grazing in the open ground, bordered by tall trees that frame the scene on either side. Distant mountains rise beneath a sky filled with clouds, giving the pastoral setting a sense of depth. The piece is an oil painting made in 1840 by John Glover, a British-Australian landscape painter who lived from 1767 to 1849. It belongs to the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
