The Beggars Oak

Story

A huge oak tree fills a woodland clearing, its canopy glowing in golden-green tones, while slighter trees cluster around its trunk. In the distance, riders on horseback cross the open ground beneath the branches, giving a sense of scale to the ancient tree. The scene is called The Beggars Oak, painted by John Glover, a landscape painter who lived from 1767 to 1849 and worked across British and Australian contexts.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and bedrooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
