Horseneck Falls

Story

Water tumbles over a rocky cliff, framed by green growth and patches of brown earth, in a composition that lets the falling stream pull the eye down through the landscape. John Henry Twachtman painted this scene in oil in 1900, working within American Impressionism. The piece entered its collection through a museum purchase supported by a charitable acquisitions trust, and it stands alongside his recognized depiction of Horseneck Brook.

Where it works

Cool-toned artwork suited to living rooms and dens, and to restaurants, in a vertical format.
