Story
Two puffins appear here, their white faces and dark feathered bodies set against rough coastal rocks, with one bird afloat near the shore and the other perched above the water, all framed by an open seascape stretching behind them. This image was created in 1827 by John James Audubon (1785–1851), a French-American naturalist whose work includes The Birds of America, reflecting his approach rooted in Naturalism.
