Story

Three towering, cone-shaped haystacks rise from a field that has already been harvested, bordered by trees and gentle hills beneath a sky scattered with clouds. Warm browns and greens dominate the scene, giving the composition a rich, seasonal glow. The painting was created in oil on canvas in 1891 by John Leslie Breck (1860–1899), an American painter. It now belongs to the Terra Foundation for American Art, having entered its holdings through the Daniel J. Terra Collection.
