Story

A scattering of haystacks rises across a sunlit field, its golden tones set against a clouded gray sky, while a strip of green vegetation lines the distant horizon. This oil painting, titled Studies of an Autumn Day, was made in 1891 by John Leslie Breck, an American painter who lived from 1860 to 1899. The piece entered its collection through the Daniel J. Terra Collection and is held at the Terra Foundation for American Art.
