Story
A large caterpillar perches on a mushroom, smoking a hookah while addressing a small girl standing beneath it, caught mid conversation in a scene of calm oddity. The image was produced as a lithograph in 1891. It illustrates a scene from Lewis Carroll's book, rendered by the British artist John Tenniel, who lived from 1820 to 1914 and worked as a caricaturist known also for the piece Dropping the Pilot.
